# Deployment

> Running NYXDB in production — nodes, data directories, replication and a clean stop.

A production deployment runs several nodes. Each node is one process with its
own data directory and configuration file; tablets are replicated across the
nodes, and a replica takes over when a node is lost. See
[Deployment topologies](/docs/operations/supported-boundaries).

- Give each node a data directory on durable local storage.
- Configure the issuer key so users and services sign in with passwords and
  API keys.
- Stop a node with `SIGTERM`: it drains before it exits. See
  [Durability](/docs/operations/durability).
