# Configuration

> The NYXDB node configuration file, its sections and the keys operators set most often.

A node reads one configuration file at start. Its keys are grouped by area:

| Key | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| `gateway.issuer.ed25519_private_key_file` | The key that signs bearers for password and API-key sign-in. |
| `gateway.http.request_timeout_millis` | The deadline of an HTTP request. |
| `gateway.http.websocket_request_timeout_millis` | The node value of `request_timeout` for WebSocket requests. |
| `gateway.http.websocket_max_stream_duration_millis` | The node value of `max_stream_duration`. |
| `gateway.federation.allowed_endpoint_suffixes` | The host endpoints a federation source may connect to. |
| `node.continuous.subscriber_idle_ttl_millis` | The node value of `subscriber_idle_ttl`. |
| `node.lifecycle.stop_drain_seconds` | How long a stopping node drains. |
| `node.storage.recovery_workers` | How many relations recover at once when the node opens. |
| `node.resources.execution.schema_maximum_rungs` | Schema generations kept per table. |

`system.settings` shows the value in force for every registered setting, with
its origin. See [Settings](/docs/sql/settings).
